Anime Food Re-creation: K-ON! Nodoka's Sandwiches (+ LIFE UPDATE)

Hello Adventurers! First off, apologies for my radio silence! Basically, this entire summer, I have not had access to my laptop. First, the fan stopped spinning and then my adapter died and it's been a whole fiasco getting the parts replaced. (UGH, I seriously have the worst luck with technology. -.-)

With that being said, I have some good news and some bad news.

Let's start with the good news! I have another anime food re-creation! (And there's more where that came from, but please read by Life Update below.)
K-ON! - Nodoka's Sandwiches
Today, I present the sandwiches from K-ON! that Nodoka brought to Yui's study cram session.

Anime Food Re-creation: Shining Hearts: Shiwase no Pan's Onion Garlic Toast

In Shining Hearts: Shiwase no Pan, Flora's bar is known for its Onion Garlic Toast, which always seems to sell out. I love garlic bread so this seemed like a great anime food to recreate!

Anime Food Re-creation: Mirrai Nikki's Crab Legs

In Episode 13 of Mirai Nikki, Yuki's friends (Aru, Hinata, Mao, and Kousaka) head off to a resort town in search of Yuki and Yuno, whom they suspect kidnapped Yuki. The particular hotel Aru and company stayed at included all-you-can-eat crab legs. Of course, Kousaka had to get as much as he could - much to his friends' embarrassment!
Mirai Nikki - Crab Legs
Getting this much crab at a buffet in real life can be quite embarrassing. People stare at you as if you're one of those people - the ones that hog all the expensive items so that no one else can get it...

(Sorta) Anime Food Re-creation: Lucky Star's Chocolate Cornet

Ever since my cousin showed me Lucky Star, I've been on a quest for chocolate cornets. Today's Anime Food Re-creation is a *sorta* re-creation because I didn't make it, unfortunately. Chocolate cornets are still on my list of anime foods to make, but I won't be able to make them until I find metal cornet horn molds.

For now, here is a chocolate cornet from Paris Baguette, an Asian bakery near where I live.

Anime Food Re-Creation: K-On!! Yakisoba Pan

Happy August!

My apologies for the long hiatus! Spring quarter was nothing but craziness, exams, papers, group projects, presentations, presentations, and MORE presentations! Summer school officially ended for me today (I turned in my final paper so there's no going back now... XD) so I finally get a chance to blog again! Hurray!

Today's Anime Food Re-creation is Yakisoba Pan (aka Yakisoba Bread) from K-On!! It's basically Japanese stir-fried noodles stuffed into a bread roll.

In the K-On!! episode, Mio received yakisoba pan from some girls from her fan club.

Hey everyone! Happy 12-12-12!

I know I haven't been blogging lately, but please know I haven't forgotten about you all! This past fall, I got into a graduate program and am now pursuing a Master's degree! Life has been hectic and crazy, but now that we're on break, I hope to cook up some new tasty treats.

As a special surprise, I have another Anime Re-creation! Today is omurice from Hanasaku Iroha.

Anime Food Re-creation: Kiki's Delivery Service Cake

It's my birthday weekend! Yay! I'm one year older and wiser! I definitely feel older at least. x] (When did I become a "ma'am" anyway? I don't look that old, do I!? D: Haha!) Regardless of my age, I'll always be a kid-at-heart. That, along with my passion for cooking and baking, motivate me to make anime and fictional foods. Which brings me to today's post! :]

This year, I wanted to bake my own birthday cake and of course, I had to make it an anime cake...

Anime Food Re-creation: Yumeiro Patissiere's Decorated Cookies

Hello all! I have another Anime Food Re-creation here. In the same episode that Ichigo creates an apple birthday cake for Ringo in Yumeiro Patissiere, she also has a tray of decorated sugar and gingerbread cookies.

Ichigo ends up using these cookies to decorate the top of a gingerbread house when she has to redesign her cake. You can check out the Anime Food Re-creation of the gingerbread house by clicking here.

As for my tray of cookies, check these out!

Anime Food Re-creation: Yumeiro Patissiere's Gingerbread House for Ringo

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you guys are all having a wonder holiday season! In the spirit of the holiday, I'm posting my re-creation of Yumeiro Patissiere's gingerbread house!
Yumeiro Patissiere's Gingerbread House for Ringo
In this episode, Ichigo had to redesign her apple birthday cake for Ringo in an hour. How she was able to complete this in an hour is beyond me! I completed my gingerbread house over the course of a few days. These kids must possess incredible skill!

Here's my gingerbread house inspired by the one Ichigo created!

Anime Food Re-creation: Mei's Bento from My Neighbor Totoro

Some time last year, I went through a slight Miyazaki/Ghibli movie marathon and when I was going through Anna the Red's blog, I saw that she had actually recreated some of the Ghibli food from the movies! I really admire Anna the Red's bento (and non-bento) work. It is AMAZING to say the least! Definitely go check her out!
Mei's Bento from My Neighbor Totoro
This is the bento that Satsuki (Mei's older sister) makes for Mei in the anime movie My Neighbor Totoro. After seeing Anna the Red's tutorial for Mei's bento, I was inspired to recreate my own.

Anime Food Re-creation: Fruits Basket's Onigiri

A little while ago, I posted a tutorial on how to make onigiri (Japanese riceballs). Onigiri plays an iconic role in the anime and manga Fruits Basket. In one scene, Tohru (the protagonist) makes onigiri for a game for a school festival. Each onigiri is decorated differently with mystery fillings inside - some of which have unappetizing fillings as "punishments." I'd hate to bite into that hidden leek riceball like poor Kyo! >_<

Here is my re-creation of Tohru's platter of onigiri!

Anime Food Re-creation: Yumeiro Patissiere's Strawberry Mille Crepe

Food in anime and manga always looks so tasty! One anime I got really into was Yumeiro Patissiere, which was about a girl named Ichigo who goes to a pasty school and dreams of becoming a pastry chef like her grandmother. One of the first items she makes successfully is Mille Crepe, which is cake made of layers of crepe with cream inbetween. In her own twist on it, she creates a Strawberry Mille Crepe, which has additional layers of sliced strawberries.
